all-season tires

The all-season tires can be used in most places in the United States. They can actually be used everywhere in the United States if you are willing to change into winter tires in areas with severe winter weather. Many people actually prefer this option as the all-season tires perform better in all other seasons than winter. The reason they are not able to be used in severe winter weather is because they don’t hold the “Three Peak Mountain Snowflake” symbol”. Only all-weather tires and dedicated winter tires hold this emblem, and it signifies that they have passed required performance criteria in snow testing and can be considered severe snow service rated.

All-season tires have the advantage of lower rolling resistance which means the car will be more fuel efficient. The reason the all-season tires have lower rolling resistance is because their tread pattern is less aggressive than either winter tires or all-weather tires and is the reason, they are not suited for severe winter weather and thereby do not have as aggressive tread as either winter tires or all-weather tires. This is also the reason they do not hold the severe snow service rating. They do however excel in both driving comfort and fuel efficiency over all-weather tires and winter tires due to their less aggressive tread which allows for a smoother ride and longer tread life while providing optimal handling on both dry and wet roads.

There are many good quality all-season tires on the market, tires like the Nokian eNTYRE 2.0 are a premium all-season tire. These all-season tires offer great handling and excellent grip on all road surfaces, wet and dry alike, while offering a smooth and quiet drive. They feature the latest technologies ensuring uncompromising performance. These tires have many new innovative technologies like the silent sidewall technology, the new high modulus tread compound and polished grooves. In addition, they are a low rolling resistance tire which makes them environmentally friendly which makes them ideal for hybrid and electric cars as well.

When buying new all-season tires make sure to follow the manufacturer’s recommended tire dimensions for your make and model car. If for example the recommended dimensions by the manufacturer are 205/55R16 then you would need to buy 205/55R16 all-season tires, 205/55R16 winter tires or 205/55R16 all-weather tires. This means that the width is 205 mm, and the number 55 means that the tire’s section height is 55% of the tire’s section width. The last number is the diameter of the rim in inches.

If the choice exists to equip your vehicle with all-season tires, then that is by far the better choice. With the above-mentioned advantages over the all-weather tires there is always the option if residing in an area with severe winter weather, to place dedicated winter tires on your vehicle during the winter months. This actually remains the best option for both safety and handling on snow and ice.
